The Impact of Belief in the Unity of Divine Actions on the Individual and Social Ethics of Muslims and Christians with Emphasis on the Quran and the Old and New Testaments

Abstract

 Belief in the principle of monotheism is one of the most vital beliefs influencing human life, particularly human ethics and behavior. One of the branches of monotheism is the belief in the unity of divine actions, which exerts a profound effect on both individual and social ethics. Employing an analytical-comparative method and emphasizing the Holy Quran and the Bible, this study aims to answer the question: What is the impact of the unity of divine actions on the individual and social ethics of Muslims and Christians? Although the Quran contains numerous explicit references to the unity of divine actions, the Bible features fewer explicit allusions to it. The conclusion of this study is that if Muslims and Christians thoroughly internalize the belief in the unity of divine actions within themselves, they will become trustful in God, fearless, possessing self-esteem, patient, courageous, and endowed with inner peace. In such a society, unity, cooperation, and empathy will prevail among individuals; people will harbor goodwill toward one another, and through the social interactions fostered within the community, they will establish an exemplary society.
