Abstract

Philosophical thinking in practical matters, like theories, has been the subject of analysis by Islamic thinkers. The views of Muslim scholars on the nature of practical reason and propositions based on practical reason have been different; some of them, such as Ibn Sina, Khwaja Nasir al-Din Tusi, and Allama Tabataba'i, consider the propositions of practical reason to be of the type of popular and accepted among human beings and do not believe in any truth beyond it Therefore, they consider practical rational perceptions to be inapplicable in demonstrative reasoning, and others, such as Molla Hadi Sabzevari, Lahiji, and Mohammad Baqir Sadr, emphasize the certainty and reality of those propositions and believe that the propositions of practical reason can be used in proof. This article uses a descriptive-analytical method to review the views of some scholars and theologians in order to take a step forward in analyzing the philosophy of ethics among Islamic thinkers.
